The Shir Ami Tikkun Olam Committee has chosen to join the Religious Action Center (RAC) Cohort on Environmental and Climate Justice, The word teva is Hebrew for nature, meaning all aspects of the natural world that are made by God, not by man. Teva literally means "seal" or "stamp." In this way, we understand that the natural world is the expression of the Creator, His mark upon our world.
For thousands of years, our ancestors have blessed the many wonders of nature and celebrated the land and cycles of the seasons. We continue this tradition through spiritual programming at Shir Ami that includes holiday and Shabbat celebration in the open expanses of Tyler State Park; study and prayer in the wilderness areas of our beautiful Bucks County home; and Jewish meditation programs that connect with creation. On our journey to create a world of clean air, land, and water, we aim to plant a community garden on synagogue grounds and establish a Green Team, with an emphasis on the ongoing development of environmentally conscious and sustainable practices throughout Shir Ami.
We encourage all of us to get involved, including the youngest among us in the ELC, our Religious School families and Youth Group members, as well as our adult community. Through speakers, books and film discussions, we look to learn about opportunities for impactful action.
